This lightweight 3' x 3' fire safety blanket is made from heat and fire resistant carbon fiber felt which can withstand temperatures up to 1800 °F without melting. Blanket thickness is approximately 1/7". Unlike Duvetyne blankets which are treated with a water soluable flame retardant chemical, the fire retardant properties of the carbon felt material will not wash out or deminish with moisture. Having that said and although ours have withstood a good rain, it is not recommended to wash these blankets due to the felted material. Perfect as a fire safety blanket for fire spinning and as an emergency fire safety blanket.
